A celebration of santoor and flute, Ragas of the Valley, will perform Gold Reef City’s Lyric Theatre this November

Johannesburg’s top entertainment destination, Tsogo Sun’s Gold Reef City will be hosting Ragas of the Valley: A Duet of Santoor and Flute on Sunday, 11 November 2018, at Gold Reef City’s Lyric Theatre.

Celebrating the legacy of Shiv-Hari from Call of the Valley to Silsila the quartet from India is led by Santosh Sant (flute) and Sandip Chatterjee (santoor), are accompanied by Subhankar Banerjee on tabla and Bhawani Shankar on opakhawaj and side percussion. 

Santosh Sant and Sandip Chatterjee celebrated their 80th birthdays this year and their friendship spans 51 years from the release of their album Call of the Valley to Silsila. The concert will feature an extensive repertoire spanning a diverse cross-section of pure classical ragas and items from their film compositions.
