Jan Bloukaas releases alternative rock single
Jan Bloukaas is determined not to allow his recent brain tumour diagnoses to get the better of him or to influence his future.
In addition to his treatment, the artist is focusing on sending his music career in a brand-new direction.
Just a month after releasing the inspiring single, Sweef, he is back in the spotlight with an alternative rock song that already has everyone talking.
AS EK JOU HOOR LAG is an impressive song, written by the artist himself, about relationships. “In this instance, the music came before the lyrics and developed organically from there. It differs from “Sweef”, which has a more electronic approach. This song shows the variety of music people can expect on my latest album,” he explains.
It is also the first song he recorded with a live band, and he is excited to share it with fans.
“I hope people will like the new direction I am taking with my music that now boasts less electronic sounds and more live instruments,” says the singer.
AS EK JOU HOOR LAG is the second song to be released from his upcoming album, Vreemdeling, which will be available soon.
Jan Bloukaas, a.k.a. Jean du Plessis, barely finished school in 2017 when he shot to fame with the song Kaas Elke Dag and landed a deal with Universal Music.
Since then he has had a very successful career, boasting several radio- and dance hits (including kykNET en Chill, Boerseun and Desember), two popular albums (Desember and The Party Starter), a record deal with Inhoud Huis Musiek and numerous awards.
The Capetonian also collaborated with Biggy and Early B on the song Dans and released a duet, Sterre Brand, with Janie Bay. Additionally, he has also shared the stage with some of the biggest names in the industry and performed at several major music festivals and concerts.
He is currently undergoing chemotherapy and is unable to focus on his music as much as he wants to. But as soon as he is back on his feet, he plans on promoting his new album as much as he can.
AS EK JOU HOOR LAG is not only a nice preview of what can be expected from his upcoming album, but also showcases the artist’s versatility as a songwriter and musician.
