Suzuki Jimny Gathering 2027: get ready for a Lowveld adventure
The #JimnyFam is heading to the Lowveld! Following two successful editions in Clarens and the Garden Route, Suzuki Auto South Africa’s Jimny Gathering is moving to Mpumalanga for its third edition, taking place just outside White River from 23 to 26 September 2027.
Just like in previous years, Suzuki revealed the 2027 Jimny Gathering and its new location exactly one year ahead of the event in an exciting social media launch across multiple channels.
Now officially recognised as the largest gathering of Suzuki Jimny owners anywhere in the world, the event has become a major date on the calendar for enthusiasts of Suzuki’s legendary compact 4x4.
The 2027 edition promises four days of adventure, camping, music and family entertainment, with hundreds of Jimnys – from the latest 5-Door models to much-loved vintage SJ and LJ derivatives – expected to make the journey.
The action will be centred around Klipkoppie Dam, where thousands of Jimny enthusiasts will set up camp beneath the Lowveld stars. During the day, owners will have the opportunity to explore a selection of 4x4 trails in the surrounding area, ranging from scenic and accessible routes to more technical terrain where they can put their off-road skills to the test.
And, as with previous Gatherings, there will be plenty happening away from the trails.
The popular Suzuki Safari Town Music Festival returns as part of the weekend’s programme and will once again be open to everyone, whether they own a Jimny or simply want to join the party. The festival will feature a line-up of local musical acts, together with food and refreshment vendors, craft bars, market stalls and entertainment for the whole family.
Comedian and Jimny owner Schalk Bezuidenhout will also return as the event’s host for the third consecutive Gathering, bringing his trademark wit, charm and humour.
“We’ve seen just how passionate the Jimny community is at the first two Gatherings, and we’re incredibly excited to bring the event to the Lowveld for the very first time,” says Brendon Carpenter, Brand Marketing Manager at Suzuki Auto South Africa.
“The Lowveld is an incredible setting for a Jimny adventure, and we’re planning another weekend that brings together everything people have come to love about the Gathering – from getting out on the trails to camping with friends, enjoying great music and simply celebrating the Jimny community. It’s a big celebration of one of Suzuki’s most-loved small cars.”
There will also be another record attempt, with the aim of adding to the Jimny Gathering’s growing list of achievements.
The first Gathering in 2023 set a Guinness World Records title for the most vehicles with their headlights switched on simultaneously, while the 2025 event broke the record for the most car doors closed simultaneously. Details of the 2027 record attempt will be announced closer to the event, with every Jimny attending set to have the opportunity to take part.
“I’m very happy to be coming back for my third Jimny Gathering, although I’m starting to think the Jimny people are just looking for excuses to get me to drive across the country,” jokes Schalk Bezuidenhout.
“But seriously, there’s something very special about the Gathering. You have thousands of people who share a love for these little machines coming together for a weekend of adventure, music and lekker times. I’ve seen the energy and gees at the first two events, and I can’t wait to see what happens when the #JimnyFam takes over the Lowveld in September 2027.”
The event is expected to attract visitors from across South Africa, providing an opportunity for them to experience the Lowveld while also supporting businesses in White River and surrounding areas.
