UD Trucks Southern Africa has welcomed UD Trucks Komani to its growing dealer network, strengthening its presence in the Eastern Cape and providing customers in Komani and surrounding areas with greater access to UD Trucks’ products, parts and aftersales support.

Officially opening its doors as a UD Trucks dealership on 1 October 2026, UD Trucks Komani brings together the strength of the UD Trucks brand with a business that has been firmly rooted in the local community for almost a century.

The new dealership is operated by Jacksons, a well-established commercial vehicle business with a long-standing understanding of the region and the businesses that depend on reliable transport to keep their operations moving.

A legacy built on local relationships

The Jacksons story dates back to 1927, with the business preparing to celebrate 100 years of operation in 2027.

Mark and Lucy Wilson acquired Jacksons in 1990, before the business moved to its current facility in Sprigg Street in 1994. Over the decades, Jacksons has established itself within the commercial vehicle sector, building strong relationships with customers across Komani and the surrounding region.

That local experience is an important foundation for its new relationship with UD Trucks.

For transport operators, access to a trusted local dealer is about more than purchasing a truck. It is about having access to the people, technical expertise, parts and support required to keep vehicles productive and businesses moving.

Filip Van den Heede, Managing Director of UD Trucks Southern Africa, says the addition of Komani strengthens the company's ability to support customers closer to where they operate.

“Our dealer network is a critical part of delivering the UD Trucks customer experience. Adding UD Trucks Komani gives us an opportunity to strengthen our support for customers in the Eastern Cape while partnering with a business that has deep roots in the local market. Jacksons brings valuable commercial vehicle experience and a strong understanding of its customers, and we look forward to building on that foundation together.”

Bringing UD Trucks closer to customers

The introduction of UD Trucks to Komani represents the next step in the development of Jacksons' commercial vehicle offering, while expanding the reach of UD Trucks in the region.

With an established customer base and extensive experience in the truck industry, the dealership is well positioned to introduce local transport operators to UD Trucks' range of transport solutions while providing existing UD Trucks customers with an additional point of access to sales and after-sales support.

The dealership will support customers across the complete customer journey, from vehicle sales and parts to workshop and technical support.

This is aligned with UD Trucks' focus on delivering Ultimate Dependability – supporting customers with dependable transport solutions and the partnership required to keep their businesses moving.

Marle Visagie, General Manager: Retail and Competence  Development at UD Trucks Southern Africa, says the dealership's local experience will be an important advantage.

“What stood out for us about Jacksons is the depth of experience and the relationships they have built in the region over many years. This is exactly the type of partnership we want within the UD Trucks network. Our focus is not simply on adding another dealership, but on ensuring that customers have access to a capable, committed team that understands their businesses and can support them throughout the ownership journey.”

An experienced team behind the dealership

Customers visiting UD Trucks Komani will be supported by an experienced team across sales, workshop and administration.

The workshop is led by Workshop Manager Johan Pelser, supported by technical team members Fana, a Master UD Trucks Technician, as well as Ruan, Martin and Richard.

On the administrative side, Liezel, Chante and Ilze will assist customers with bookings, administration and general enquiries.

The sales team is led by Dealer Principal Patrick Casey, supported by Vera Lieberum, Ayanda Dumezweni and Sbongile Mathebula.

The team's focus will be on building relationships with transport operators across the region, understanding their operational requirements and matching them with the right UD Trucks solutions and support.

A dealership with deep community roots

For Jacksons, its relationship with the Komani community extends well beyond its commercial operations.

Over many decades, the business has established strong local relationships and supported various community initiatives. This connection to the community is an important part of the dealership's identity and provides a strong foundation as it begins its journey with UD Trucks.

The combination of local knowledge, commercial vehicle experience and a strong customer-focused culture creates an opportunity to build a meaningful presence for UD Trucks in the region.

Building the next chapter together

As UD Trucks Komani begins operations, the immediate priority is to ensure that existing UD Trucks customers in the area have a dedicated local point of contact, while introducing more transport operators to the UD Trucks product and service offering.

The dealership will focus on direct customer engagement, developing relationships with fleet operators and identifying opportunities to support businesses across Komani and the surrounding areas.

For Jacksons, the UD Trucks franchise represents an exciting new chapter for a business with a proud local heritage.

Mark and Lucy Wilson, owners of Jacksons, said:

“We are extremely excited to begin this new chapter with UD Trucks. Jacksons has been part of the Komani community for generations, and we are proud to bring the UD Trucks brand to the region. Our team is ready to welcome customers and build on the relationships we have developed over many years, while delivering the level of service and support our customers have come to expect from Jacksons.”

With almost a century of local heritage behind it and a new chapter with UD Trucks ahead, UD Trucks Komani is ready to support the businesses that keep the region moving.
