About Hijabella Hair Studio
Hijabella Hair Studio is directed by Fatima Sayanvala, and is a fully professional ladies hair salon catering for women from all walks of life.
My aim is not only to provide the best quality service to women but also use it as a platform to uplift and empower many girls out there who do not have any education themselves or are unable to afford one.
I truly believe that "we rise by lifting others". Having your hair done is something very important as when you look good, it makes you feel good! It builds your confidence and self esteem as well.
We have a beautiful team of ladies in salon that are ready to pamper you and make you feel beautiful.
Hijabella Hair Studio have been operating for 5 (five) years and employs 3 (three) people.
How has the lockdown affected Hijabella Hair Studio?
Being in the beauty industry with our business only being allowed to re-open recently it has been a huge challenge trying to get back on track again. A visit to your favourite hair salon has become a luxury which many ladies are now either avoiding or delaying due to the rising numbers of covid.

What measures has Hijabella Hair Studio taken to ensure that they stay afloat during lockdown?
I have focused on retail sales of products and accessories as well as keeping my clients informed with tutorials and advise on how to look after their hair until they can visit us again.
Why do you think Hijabella Hair Studio deserves to win the After Fajr Grind Awards?
My journey started off with looking for an opportunity to get creative and this turned into a passion. With absolutely no knowledge of hair or any tertiary education, I took on this journey & followed a dream. I qualified as the first student at Loreal with 100% & opened up with a tiny little space of 1 chair at home which has grown into a beautiful salon in the Rand Steam shopping centre in Johannesburg. I believe that my journey can be an inspiration to many out there. The sky is the limit and we can accomplish anything we dream off! I hope to uplift and inspire others to never give up, always keep educating themselves, learning & growing to become the best we can be!
