IGTC: Team WRT wins Bronze category at the Suzuka 1000KM – Team KRC on the Pro-Am podium
Team WRT and BMW M works driver Dan Harper (GBR) have triumphed in the Bronze category at the 50th edition of the Suzuka 1000KM (JPN).
In the fourth round of the Intercontinental GT Challenge (IGTC), Harper, alongside Anthony McIntosh (USA) and Parker Thompson (CAN), claimed a commanding class victory in the #69 BMW M4 GT3 EVO. The Team WRT trio finished seventh overall. In the Pro-Am category, Team KRC secured a class podium.
BMW M works driver Augusto Farfus (BRA) drove the #10 BMW M4 GT3 EVO to third place in class alongside his compatriot Marcelo Tomasoni (BRA) and Brian Lee (TPE).
The second Team KRC car endured a disappointing Sunday. In qualifying, BMW M works driver Max Hesse (GER), Maxime Oosten (NED) and Ruan Cun Fan (CHN) confirmed the strong pace they had shown in practice, impressively putting the #89 BMW M4 GT3 EVO fourth on the grid, which meant pole position in the Bronze category.
However, just one and a half hours into the race, the car was hit by a competitor, spun onto the wet grass and remained stuck there for some time. As a result, the trio dropped far down the order and were forced to retire the car shortly afterwards.
PLUS with BMW M Team Studie finished fifth in the Bronze category with the #5 BMW M4 GT3 EVO in its iconic BLEACH design.

Dan Harper (Team WRT, #69 BMW M4 GT3 EVO, Victory Bronze category): “It’s a great day. We had a bit of bad luck at the beginning, but we came back strongly and the team got us back into the fight for victory with an excellent strategy. My team-mates did a perfect job and handed the car over to me in a great position. I’m happy that I was able to bring the victory home.”
Max Hesse (Team KRC, #89 BMW M4 GT3 EVO, DNF): “Unfortunately, our race came to an early end, which is a real shame. Until then, the weekend had gone very smoothly for us and we had a very strong qualifying. Unfortunately, after a good start to the race, we initially had contact with a competitor and later had to retire the car. That’s a real shame because I think we could have battled Team WRT for the class victory, and I would have enjoyed racing against Dan. But that’s racing sometimes. Many thanks to Team KRC. They did a great job with both cars, and particularly in qualifying we were able to show just how strong this group is.”
Augusto Farfus (Team KRC, #10 BMW M4 GT3 EVO, 3rd place Pro-Am category): “It’s my second race for Team KRC and my second podium. It’s a great team and we had an excellent strategy. My final two stints were very physically demanding, but I’m very happy with the result. Many thanks to Team KRC; they did an outstanding job.”
