About Silver Lining Workshop Facilitation
Silver Lining Workshop Facilitation is directed by Shahista Thokan, and was founded with the vision and primary focus on community upliftment. As an academic with a variety of qualifications, Shahista has made it a purpose to 'give back' through pro bono work as well as proceed contributions from workshops to the underprivileged. Shahista hosts impactful and informative workshops to upskill and develop individuals with growth tools which they can implement in their businesses and day to day lives. Workshops are tailor made to cater for personal as well as corporate development in areas of mental and emotional wellbeing.
Silver Lining Workshop Facilitation have been operating for 2.5 (two and a half) years and employs 2 (two) people.
How has the lockdown affected Silver Lining Workshop Facilitation?
My services include personal coaching, marriage counselling and hosting events. Lockdown has impacted a great deal as new clients are difficult to source as one on one meetings are no longer allowed, the restrictions of social distancing have made workshops difficult to host and employees training have come to a complete stop due to several businesses struggling financially. Even though a virtual platform is available, coaching is impersonal and some clients are not comfortable sharing openly. Group meetings and discussions have been attempted however rates have to be reduced and technology proves challenging at times to host as well as clients. Income has dropped by 80% as I can no longer do call outs and mediations.

What measures has Silver Lining Workshop Facilitation taken to ensure that they stay afloat during lockdown?
I have used media platforms such as radio and print media to generate income. I have started to write for different publications and guest speak on a variety of mediums as a transformational coach. I have been using Zoom and FaceTime for individual coaching and developing online activities for couples. I have had to start paying my 2 employees on a hourly basis due to fluctuating income and use from my savings to boost website and social media campaigns. This investment was to ensure I stay relevant in the industry.

Honestly, the money will really allow me to take my business to a higher medium. I affiliate with NGO and organisations whom rely on my proceeds for skills development and therefore I do see my business's goal as the benefit to others. recognition by a large media presence like iloveza will also boost my profile to new heights and collaborations. This type of association will really assist in solidifying exposure to the work my brand does.
